Lovely winter cocktails

According to a study conducted by Leopold Vienna, 82% of the Dutch people prefer to drink a cocktail in the summer. This is understandable because sun, sea and beach demand a colorful drink in your hand. But are cocktails only for the summer? We don’t think so. In the summer you drink colorful exotic cocktails, but in the winter you can drink a delicious heartwarming cocktail, like one with a winter liqueur. And of course, cocktails are always fun at a party! As far as we’re concerned, cocktails can be drunk all year round!

Cocktails used to have no summery appearance at all. During the ban on liquor in America in the ’20s, cocktails made their entrance. Alcohol was no longer allowed, so people secretly started making and mixing drinks at home. This mainly happened in the rich communities. A subculture of secret parties, speak-easy-bars and cocktails emerged. So if you’re having a chic party, cocktails certainly can’t be missed! If you prefer to drink your cocktail in the Great Gatsby style, you should look for a speak-easy bar. We can’t tell you where they are located, because that’s a secret of course.

It’s always lovely to drink a cocktail in a nice bar, but it’s also great at home. It is not difficult to make cocktails at home. You will need certain products, but once you have them at home, you can enjoy them for a long time. Last week, I took some of Leopold Vienna’s cocktail products home to give them a try. Leopold Vienna is the expert in home cocktail making. I bought the cocktail shaker, the jigger, the strainer and the spoon with the straw. Especially the jigger was very useful, because it helps you pour the right amount of cocktails in a quick way. Leopold Vienna has many other products for making cocktails, such as a cocktail spoon, a pourer, a bar pestle and a cocktail whisk. Are you a beginner, just like me? Then start with the cocktail shaker and the jigger first.

Presentation

A cocktail is just as much fun as it is presented beautifully. In a nice glass with some fruit, a straw, some sugar decorated on it, etc. You can make it as fun as you like. Each cocktail is being served in its own glass. This Martini glass from Villeroy & Boch, for example, is a must have for cocktails such as a cosmopolitan and a dry martini. The Grand Royal long drink glass from Villeroy & Boch can be used for a Long Island Ice Tea or a Tequila Sunrise. Each glass has its own personality.

We have put together some nice recipes for you. With these cocktails, you will definitely get through the winter!
